'Wing Chun' stars strike a pose across Toronto's key landmarks

Five lead actors from the hit Shenzhen dance drama “Wing Chun” took to the streetsto film a flash mob video in Toronto on Friday, local time.

The dance drama, which has become a global cultural phenomenon since its premiere in 2022, is currently making its North American debut at Meridian Hall inToronto with a 20-perforance residency running from Dec. 16, 2025, to Jan. 4, 2026.

Fresh off their third night at Meridian Hall, five of the production’s key actors swapped the stage for the pavement, bringing the ancient power of five Chinese martial arts styles to some of Toronto’s most famous sites.

The five distinct styles of Chinese martial arts include Wing Chun, tai chi, baguazhang, bajiquan, and praying mantis boxing.

At the University of Toronto, Chen Xianzhe, the actor who plays the master of taichi, showcased the fluid, circular movements of the martial art with the historical architecture of the campus as the backdrop.

Wang Yuanlin, the actress who plays the master of baguazhang, took to the grounds of Toronto’s famous Casa Loma, while Chang Hongji, the lead actor who plays Ip Man, moved with strength under the neon glow of the “Toronto” sign at Nathan Phillips Square.

Two other actors demonstrated the sharp, explosive strikes of bajiquan and the intricate, lightning-fast strikes of praying mantis boxing against the backdrop of Meridian Hall and the CN Tower.
