MixC Village opens in Dongguan's Binhaiwan Bay Area

MixC Village, the latest retail landmark from China Resources Group’s CR MixC Lifestyle, opened Dec. 28 in Dongguan’s Binhaiwan Bay Area, offering a high-end, resort-style shopping and leisure destination for the Greater Bay Area.

Designed by Italian architect Gianni Ranaulo, the nearly 100,000-square-meter complex is situated on the border of Shenzhen and Dongguan, approximately a 50-minute drive from downtown Futian.

The project features modern white architecture set against a 40-kilometer coastal promenade. The open-air design is accented by palm trees, fountains, and lawns, intended to evoke the atmosphere of a luxury resort.

“When people walk here, they feel like they are staying at a resort hotel,” Ranaulo told reporters during the opening. “The shopping experience becomes almost natural. They want to stay here for a whole day because the atmosphere and the quality of the space is nice.”

The shopping complex features immersive “theater” elements, including the “Village Dream House” exhibition, improvisational drama, a local market, and a light and water show.

The development has attracted more than 200 domestic and international brands, including nearly 80 first outlet stores in South China. The lineup includes luxury and designer labels such as Brunello Cucinelli, Vivienne Westwood, alexanderwang, Armani, Coach, and Michael Kors.

The site also includes the Alibaba-owned grocery chain Freshippo and a variety of dining options.

For many visitors, the appeal lies in the accessibility. A shopper surnamed Cheng, who drove from Shenzhen’s Guangming District, said the trip took only 30 minutes.

“It was faster than my commute driving to work,” Cheng said, noting she was drawn to the site by its social-media-friendly aesthetics. “The place is relaxing and feels like having a vacation in a small town.”

To mark the grand opening, MixC Village is offering various discounts, coupons, and subsidies for early visitors, which are available on the WeChat miniprogram “一点万象 (E-MIXC).”
