Work began yesterday on a renovation of the departure curb at Terminal 3 (T3) of Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport — the area where passengers are dropped off before entering the terminal. The project will be carried out in phases and the first phase is expected to be completed in early February.

The first phase includes upgrades to pedestrian walkways, improved traffic signage, and the replacement of safety barriers. Certain entrances and lanes will be temporarily closed, and the innermost drop-off lane next to the terminal will be partially used for construction.

To minimize inconvenience, the airport authority will deploy staff in high-visibility vests at key points to assist passengers. Temporary signs will also mark walkways, drop-off points, and entrances.

Drivers are advised to follow on-site instructions and, when possible, use the middle or outer lanes for drop-offs to avoid delays.

Schedule and traffic changes:

Until late January: Gates 5-7 and the outer sidewalk in front of T3 will be closed. The innermost drop-off lane will be occupied. Gates 1-4 remain open.

Late January to early February: Gates 1-3 and the outer sidewalk will be closed, with the innermost lane still in use. Gates 4-7 will stay open.

Travel tips:

Although the check-in deadline for domestic flights is 38 minutes before departure, passengers should allow extra time due to possible disruptions.

During peak hours, arrive 1.5–2 hours before your flight.

Travelers without checked baggage are encouraged to check in early via the “深圳机场” (Shenzhen Airport) WeChat miniprogram or airline channels to save time.
