'Making It in SZ' video project calling global makers

In Shenzhen, creation is more than a slogan — it’s the city's lifeblood. For decades, Shenzhen has built a dense and highly efficient industrial and supply chain network, resembling “capillaries” that keep the city’s heart beating. 

How does an idea become reality in Shenzhen? What is the magic that turns scattered parts into a finished product?

EyeShenzhen is launching a micro-documentary series “Make it in Shenzhen, China.” 

We warmly invite expats, international students, cross-border teams, and organizations in Shenzhen to become our storytellers and protagonists — documenting the core journey of making, from idea to product.

What will we document?

We focus on the creation of physical products, following every stage from concept to completion. Our cameras will capture:

From 0 to 1: the birth of an idea, team brainstorming, concept development, and prototype testing.

Supply chain collaboration: sourcing resources and partners in this highly efficient city.

Hands-on making: the challenges, insights, iterations, and teamwork involved in assembly and debugging.

The human journey: cross-cultural consensus, resilience in setbacks, and the joy of success.

We believe every product tells a story of people, collaboration, and perseverance. We don’t just document how things are made — we capture the smiles, the sweat, and the quiet moments of reflection that bring them to life.

Who are we looking for?

Whether you’re a student, engineer, entrepreneur, or organization — if your project involves creativity, R&D, assembly, or the manufacturing of physical products (such as smart hardware, robotics, innovative integrated products, etc.) and you’re willing to share authentic stories from the process, we’d love to hear from you.

Your story will reach a global audience.

This is a deep collaborative content project. Our professional team will work closely with you to produce a personalized micro-documentary. It will be distributed globally through Shenzhen Daily, EyeShenzhen and other international platforms, with the potential for exposure on Central media outlets. Let your story showcase Shenzhen’s spirit of innovation to the world.
