Nanshan to invest ¥10B in 452 projects

Nanshan District plans to invest a total of 10 billion yuan (US$1.4 billion) into 452 government-invested projects in 2026, the Nanshan District Development and Reform Bureau announced.

The funds will come from various sources: 8.309 billion yuan from the general public budget, 1.1 billion yuan from special bonds, 500 million yuan from government funds, and 91 million yuan in transfer payments from higher authorities. The investment will focus on five key areas: public welfare, urban infrastructure, green transformation, industrial innovation, and public services.

Among these, public welfare projects will receive the largest allocation, with approximately 3.761 billion yuan invested in 198 projects related to education, healthcare, culture and sports, housing, and elderly care.

These include the construction of Tong’an School, Xinghai School, and a school in the Dingtai South area; the renovation of the old inpatient building at Nanshan District People's Hospital, the construction of Nanshan District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and preparatory work for a new site of Nanshan District Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital; development of the Shenzhen Opera House and the Eastern Jin Dynasty Relics Museum; the renovation of the Dasha River Sports Center; upgrading of old residential communities; and the construction of subdistrict-level senior service centers, along with Phase III of the local welfare center.

In terms of urban infrastructure, overhead high-voltage lines along the Dasha River will be relocated underground, more surveillance cameras will be installed in public areas, and a smart platform will be developed to manage electric bicycles.

In the area of green transformation, efforts will be accelerated to improve municipal sewage pipeline networks in the Pearl River Estuary basin and the Dasha River basin, and those surrounding the Baishizhou area. Projects such as the Nanshan section of the University Town Greenway, Shekou Music Hill Park, and phase I of the Neilingding Island preservation project will also move forward.

For industrial innovation, 11 projects are planned, including the Nanshan Integrated Circuit Innovation Center, the Nanshan District Science and Technology Innovation Center, and several other industrial parks.
