Futian releases bilingual APEC handbook

Writer: Lian Jiaqi  |  Editor: Cao Zhen  |  From: Original  |  Updated: 2026-02-26

“APEC Q&A Handbook,” a comprehensive Q&A handbook covering 100 essential facts about APEC, was unveiled on Feb. 24.

The handbook was jointly designed and produced by the Futian Foreign Affairs Office and Shenzhen Daily. It aims to help the public better understand APEC through accessible and engaging content. Presented in a clear Chinese-English bilingual format, it covers the organization’s history, operational structure, past meeting outcomes, China’s role within APEC, and the core objectives for the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, to be held in Shenzhen in 2026.

The handbook features user-friendly Q&As, such as “When was the first APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting held” and “What is the theme of the 2026 APEC meeting,” alongside informative graphics including the APEC logo meaning and member maps.

Additionally, the handbook creatively features Futian’s original IP, the beloved “Fu” Family — charming characters already well known to local residents, who serve as friendly “ambassadors” for APEC knowledge. In terms of layout, the handbook adopts a modular, chapter-based design that accommodates both Chinese and English reading habits, allowing readers to quickly locate topics of interest through an intuitive and well-structured format.

The release marks a key initiative under Futian’s 2026 Spring Festival major project promotion conference, as the district officially declares 2026 its “Year of Internationalization.” The handbook aims to foster greater public understanding and support for APEC, bringing the region’s most influential economic cooperation platform closer to the people of Shenzhen.
