Dream sparrow flowers in Pingshan

Mucuna birdwoodiana, commonly known as sparrow flowers for their distinctive sparrow-like shape, is a national second-class protected species. This year, the landscape around Jingui Village in Pingshan District has been transformed into a sea of these enchanting blooms — especially the rare white-flowered variety. Thriving in warm, humid conditions, sparrow flowers reach peak vibrancy in Shenzhen from March to early April. Their clusters of delicate petals dangle like fluttering sparrows, creating a breathtaking display that seems almost too magical to be real.
