But where can we enjoy those stunning landscapes of flowers without leaving Guangdong? Here we have listed a few places in Guangdong Province where you can enjoy magnificent seas of blooming flowers.

Hongshan Village, Huadu District, Guangzhou 广州市花都红山村

Hongshan Village in Guangzhou’s Huadu District is praised as “the most beautiful mountain village in Guangzhou.” When spring comes around, you can see golden bright canola flowers sprawling across farmlands, forming a seemingly never-ending sea of yellow blossoms. It may be one of the most stunning floral sights you’ll ever lay eyes on.

Best time for appreciating the flowers: Late February to the end of March

Driving route: Take Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway to Guangzhou, then take Guangzhou Ring Expressway (S81) — Guangzhou Airport Expressway — Daqing-Guangzhou Expressway (G45) — G106 — X404 to get to the village

Pingshan Village, Dapu, Meizhou 大埔县大东镇坪山村千亩梯田

Situated in Pingshan Village, Dadong Town, Dapu County, Meizhou City, Qianmu Terrace (literally 1,000 mu, or 667,000 square meters of terrace) is full of canola flowers that sweep across the hills. Beholding the beautiful golden fields this time of the year is one of the better choices for weekend outings.

Driving route: Take Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway — Guangzhou-Huizhou Expressway — Huizhou-Heyuan Expressway — Meizhou-Heyuan Expressway, then get off the expressway at the Meizhou West exit (Meizhou Xi) to get to Pingshan Qianmu Terrace in Dadong Town, Dapu County

Canola Flower Valley, Yingde 英德沙口镇菜花峪

Canola Flower Valley is the only tourist attraction in Guangdong with canola flowers as the theme. Every year during the spring season, some 6,000 mu (4 square kilometers) of canola flowers turn the whole region into a vast golden sea. Apart from that, the ancient traditional Hakka folk houses hidden among the flowers are also a great treat to your eyes.

Driving route: Take Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway to Guangzhou, then take Huanan Expressway (S303) to Fogang County, take Yingde-Fogang Highway to Yingde City, then take Yingshao Yiji Highway to Shakou Town.
