Are you a newcomer to Shenzhen and have no idea where to spend your weekends? Well luckily for you, we will be listing out tons of places in Shenzhen that are free of charge.

Nanshan District

Shekou Sea World 蛇口海上世界

Shekou Sea World, built around a ship named "Minghua" (originally called Anceveller, a luxury yacht belonging to the then French president, Charles De Gaulle), offers you totally different views during daytime and nighttime. Sea World during the day is a nice tranquil place to relax and eat a nice meal. While during the night, it turns into a bustling center with bars and dazzling lights.

Address: Across from Taizi Hotel, Shekou, Nanshan District, Shenzhen (深圳市南山区蛇口太子宾馆对面)

Transport: Take bus No.22, 31, 70, 105, K105, 204, K204, 217, 226, 230, 231, 232, 233, 329, 331, 332 or 355 to Sea World.

Holland Flower Town 荷兰小镇

A huge windmill standing at the front gate of the flower town, this place is modeled after a Dutch village. Though the copy might not be very convincing, here you can find many little shops selling potted plants.

Going inside the town, you will see colorful European style architectures lining both sides of the road. Choosing a delicate shop and watching people walking around or bringing a potted plant back home might be a nice way to spend a relaxing weekend.

Transport: Take Bus No. 223 and get off at Nantou Terminal (南头总站) and then walk there.

Nanshan Park 南山公园

Enjoying an advantageous location, the park offers you a panoramic view of Shenzhen Bay if you stand at the top of the mountain. Besides, you can also see the center of the city as well as the mountains and skyscrapers in northern Hong Kong.

Address: Nantou Peninsula, Shenzhen (深圳市南头半岛)

Transport: Take bus No. M205, M241, 122, 113, K113, 328, 329, B702 or B802 to Haiguan Gate (海关登山口); Or take bus No. 113, 70, 328 or 329 and get off at Haiyang Building (海洋大厦)to Bieshu Gate (别墅登山口) ; Or take bus No. B605 to North Gate (北登山口)

Nantou Ancient Town 南头古城

Shenzhen is known as a young city by most people, however, it doesn't mean that this city has no history. Covering an area of 70,000 square meters, the old town enjoys a long history of over 1730 years. Though not everything has been perfectly preserved, you can still get a feeling for the history of the area.

Address: To the south of Zhongshan Park, No. 3109, Nanshan Avenue, Nanshan District (深圳市南山区南山大道3109号中山公园南侧)

Transport: Take Bus No. 22, 42, 81, 105, 201, 204, 226, 227, 233, 234, 245, 320, 327 or 332 to Xin'an Gucheng Stop (新安故城站)

OCT LOFT华侨城创意文化园

Transformed from industrial parks, the OCT LOFT is brimming with creation and art. On the well lids as well as on the tops and walls of the buildings, you can find graffiti everywhere, which makes it a great place for shooting.

Address: Inside the original east industrial zone, OCT, Nanshan District, Shenzhen (深圳市南山区华侨城原东部工业区内)

Transport: Take Loop Line Bus 315 to 310 or 373 and get off at Konka Co.,Ltd. (康佳集团)

Zhongshan Park中山公园

It seems that almost in every city there is a Zhongshan Park, and Shenzhen is no exception. Zhongshan Park is the only park in Shenzhen that was named after Sun Yat-sen. The park, home to the largest stone head of Sun Yat-sen nationwide,is also the oldest park in Shenzhen.

Address: No. 3109, Nanshan Boulevard, Nanshan District, Shenzhen (深圳市南山区南山大道3109号)

Transport: Take Bus No. 22, 21, 37, B628, 201, 226, 332, B769 or 93A and get off at Zhongshan Park.
