SZ wins 15 national science awards

FIFTEEN projects involving or hosted by Shenzhen companies, universities and research institutes won prizes at the State Preeminent Science and Technology Awards, the nation’s top science awards, which concluded in Beijing on Monday.

Seven of the award winners featured technology inventions and the other eight were awarded for scientific advancement.

In the category of technology inventions, the Key Technologies and Mass Application of Regeneration Bone Materials from Construction Waste project by Xing Feng, a professor with Shenzhen University, the High Performance Graphene Lithium Ion Battery project by Kang Feiyu with Tsinghua University Shenzhen Graduate School and the Key Imaging Technology and Application of Ultrasound Shear Wave by Zheng Hairong with the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technologies under the Chinese Academy of Sciences won the second prizes.

Enterprises, including Huawei, ZTE and Mindray, won second prizes for technology inventions and scientific advancement.

A project on technologies for drilling under high temperatures and high pressure in oil rigs in South China Sea by two local companies won the first prize for scientific advancement. A medical project on the treatment of lupus sebaceus, in which Shenzhen People’s Hospital was a participant, won the second prize for scientific advancement.
