Dedicated to providing technologies and products that facilitate the construction of smart cities, Shenzhen Shinyo Energy Technology Co. Ltd. had their solution for a smart city system based on street lights and lamp posts on display at the 20th China Hi-Tech Fair held at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.

“Combining various communication modes, such as LoRa, NB-IoT and 4G, our City Smart Gardener (CSG) system can collect a large amount of sensor data across the city in real-time in order to provide data services to city administrators and facilitate the tracking, early warning and prevention of abnormal situations,” said Li Hongkun, a hardware engineer with the company.

According to Li, one of the advantages of the system is that it can be installed directly on the original lamp posts. Equipped with an exclusive IoT gateway, the system’s sensors can collect data in terms of the number of pedestrians and vehicles passing the street at night.

Moreover, the system can also detect damaged or displaced manhole covers and monitor the water quality of nearby rivers, lakes and water plants.

“Our CSG system can also be used for road monitoring, combined with an LED screen installed on the lamp post. If the road is waterlogged on rainy days, the system will release warning information on the screen so that drivers or pedestrians on the road notice it right away,” said Li.

The company’s CSG system is currently being utilized in Bijie City of Guizhou Province and Dong’e County of Shandong Pro-vince, Li said.
