New cultural center to be built in Longhua

Shenzhen Cultural Center (a new hall) will be built in Minzhi Subdistrict in Longhua District, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported Saturday.

The new project, covering 31,367 square meters, will include functions such as education, exchange, training and exhibition.

It is approximately 1.2 kilometers away from Shenzhen North Railway Station.

There will be a comprehensive theater with 1,200 seats, a music hall with 500 seats and other rooms including a multifunction hall, exhibition halls, training areas, a library focusing on art books, self-study rooms, recording studios and supporting public facilities like an underground parking lot.

Shenzhen Municipal Public Works Bureau has been arranged to be responsible for a design competition. Bidders should have a least a first rate design and construction certificate.

The tentative price for the design plan is 26.24 million yuan (US$3.7 million). The application will open early this month, according to the report.
