SZ to form ¥100b clusters in digital economy

Shenzhen will form more than three industrial clusters in niche sectors of the digital economic industries, whose business revenues will each reach more than 100 billion yuan (US$15 billion) by the end of 2023.

It will form six industrial clusters whose business revenues will each reach more than 10 billion yuan in the niche sectors of the digital economic industries, according to the implementation plan on the innovative development of the industry (2021-2023) released by the municipal industry and information technology bureau yesterday.

The niche sectors like high-end software, AI, blockchain, big data, cloud computing, information security, Internet, industrial Internet, smart city, fintech, e-business and digital creativity will be given priority for development.

The city’s digital economic industry will be taking the lead among major Chinese cities and become one of the core engines for the city’s socio-economic high-quality development.

The digital economic industry, one of the city’s seven emerging industries, includes software and IT services, Internet and its related businesses, telecommunications, information transmission service and new business models.

By 2023, the added value of the digital economic industry will exceed 190 billion yuan with an annual growth rate of 6.5 percent. The revenue of information transmission, software and IT services will exceed 900 billion yuan with an annual growth rate of 15.3 percent. The revenue of software businesses will exceed 1 trillion yuan with an annual growth at 10.8 percent.

By 2023, some self-developed proprietary operation systems, data banks, basic software and industrial software will reach the world-leading level. The city will build 10 new research institutions and innovation carriers to improve the original creativity capacity.

By 2023, Shenzhen will complete a batch of a new type of infrastructure and public service platforms that support industrial development.

By 2023, the city will form a tiered development pattern by cultivating 15 enterprises whose annual revenue will each exceed 5 billion yuan and 70 enterprises whose annual revenue will each exceed 1 billion yuan.
