A duty-free shopping complex is slated to open in the Qianhai and Shekou Free Trade Zone. The plan was unveiled Tuesday afternoon during an agreement signing ceremony in Qianhai.

This plan will give Shenzheners easier access to buy various duty-free goods from all over the world without traveling to Hong Kong, Macao or Hainan Province.

According to the agreement between the Qianhai Cooperation Zone Authority and the Shenzhen State-owned Duty-free Commodity Group, the two parties will join hands to open three duty-free shops that target different consumer groups, a duty-free industrial chain operation and maintenance platform, a high-end global commodity sales platform, and a global duty-free goods allocation center in the duty-free shopping complex.

Huang Min, Party committee chief of the Qianhai authority, said at the ceremony that Qianhai will roll out policies to support the development of enterprises engaging in commerce, trade and logistics, and boost Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone’s high-quality development amid Shenzhen’s efforts to build an international consumption center.

You Jiangwei, chairman of Shenzhen State-owned Duty-free Commodity Group, said that he was confident in this project, which “combines Qianhai’s policy advantages and our own advantages in duty-free goods supply chain.”

“I believe that the duty-free shopping center will be an integral part of Qianhai’s new international urban center and in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,” You said.
