Shenzhen wins big at national sci-tech awards

Shenzhen has 15 projects that recently won the 10th Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence (AI) Science and Technology Award during a ceremony held Saturday in Beijing, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

Four of the eight winning chip projects were designed by Shenzhen-based companies and universities, including Intellifusion, Tencent, Shenzhen University and Southern University of Science and Technology.

These chip projects are related to topics such as intelligent neural network processor chips, AI accelerator design method, Bluetooth audio chips, intelligent optoelectronic components and next-generation information processing chips.

It is the first time that the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award has included chip projects, the report said.

A total of 100 projects won the award. In addition to chip projects, other projects are related to artificial intelligence, natural science, technological innovation and sci-tech advancement.

An industrialization of financial risk control and economic quantitative decision platform based on time series knowledge graph, completed by Ping An Technology and Xiao Jing with Tsinghua University Shenzhen International Graduate School, won the first prize in the science and technology progress award.

In terms of natural science projects, the second prize has been given to a smart medical cloud ecological system based on cloud computing and 5G Internet of Things, which was jointly built by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and the Shenzhen Institute of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Society. And the third prize has been given to a learning and reasoning project for intelligent planning based on incomplete information finished by Sun Yat-sen University and Qianhai’s WeBank.

Moreover, four Shenzhen-based companies, namely Raisound, UBTECH, Orbbec and Transsion, won the AI technological advancement award.
