Shenzhen New Frontier United Family Hospital, a comprehensive, private high-end hospital owned and operated by United Family Healthcare (UFH), is set to open its doors in the fourth quarter (Q4) this year in Futian District, mainly targeting the affluent and middle-class as well as expats in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

According to Ren Hua, chief medical officer (CMO) of the hospital, who is also an oncology expert, the hospital is located in the heart of Futian, near Shawei Metro station. It will also be the largest facility in UFH’s network with around 40 specialties, focusing on obstetrics, gynecology and pediatrics, to meet the GBA’s demands for premier health-care services.

“As a key city in the Greater Bay Area, Shenzhen’s medical standard has been improving, and the city’s potential economic development is immense. Therefore, Shenzhen residents have shown greater needs for advanced health care. In particular, the young population’s demands fit our strengths in obstetrics, gynecology and pediatrics,” Dr. Ren said in an interview with Shenzhen Daily, adding that other key departments will open in phases.

Dr. Ren said that Shenzhen New Frontier United Family Hospital is designed and operated in accordance with Joint Commission International (JCI) standards. The hospital will provide 350 in-patient beds and the physicians are all from top health-care institutions in China and abroad.

“Our doctors and nurses can fluently communicate with foreign patients and provide personalized services in light of patients’ cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs and customs,” Dr. Ren said. “We also provide bilingual electronic medical records (EMR) which will bring great convenience to global business travelers.”

Dr. Ren mentioned that the hospital adopts a management model consisting of medical, nursing and operation teams. “Because we value the inputs from our nurses as they are on the front line taking care of patients,” he said.

Dr. Ren said what makes UFH stands out in Shenzhen is its dedication to quality-oriented, patient-centered care and a continuity health-care model that covers preventative care, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. The hospital also collaborates with over 50 international insurance providers for direct billing for the convenience of expats in Shenzhen.

Founded by Roberta Lipson in 1997, UFH is an international hospital and clinic network that provides comprehensive premium health-care services and was acquired by New Frontier Corp. in 2019 .

At present, UFH boasts nine hospitals and 15 satellite clinics in major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou and Qingdao. Their medical team is composed of over 600 full-time doctors, over 1,000 nurses and 1,000 part-time consultants.
