The attendees included leading figures from the architecture, landscape and interior design industries, as well as outstanding designers and representatives from design institutions and enterprises from the GBA and other parts of the country.

Through dialogues, the event aimed to provide a platform for designers from various fields to share and exchange ideas, and discuss issues in GBA’s urban design and development and the complementarity and cooperation between Chinese and foreign designs.

“It is hoped that industry experts and young designers can collaborate to design for the beautiful bay area by using the summit as a platform,” Lin Difu, executive president of the Council for the Promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation, said in an opening speech.

Hong Kong designer Frankie Lui, founder of architectural firm Atelier Global, gave a keynote speech on multidisciplinary design practice in the GBA. The summit also featured two forums on the dilemma and future of city and architecture, as well as the development trends of eco-friendly home design.

Lui presented some of his GBA projects, including the architectural design of Shenzhen Longhua Archives and Shenzhen Book City Longhua Store, as well as the interior design of OCT OH Bay.

The award ceremony of the fifth “Design 100” Young Designers Award and the “Design 100” exhibition of 100 outstanding designers’ works were also held during the summit.

The “Design 100” series of activities is one of the high-profile design awards in the design industry, which is open to the design industry in China.

The activities aim to select representative works of outstanding young designers and design institutions, and build an exchange and cooperation platform for upstream and downstream enterprises in architecture, landscape and interior design industries.
