Huawei inks low-carbon deal

Huawei Digital Power Technologies Co. Ltd. and China Construction Science and Industry Co. Ltd. will strengthen multilevel cooperation in technology, market expansion and industrial ecology in the fields of data centers, low-carbon architectures and intelligent electricity charging to reduce carbon emission and push forward intelligent applications, according to a strategic cooperation agreement signed in the city Friday.

Charles Yang, CEO of Huawei Data Center Facility Team, said the agreement marked the upgrade of the partnership of the two sides, who will jointly build energy-saving benchmark projects and competitive solutions through full cooperation in technology development, business expansion and low-carbon architectures.

In terms of data center facilities, the two sides will scale up the existing cooperation and jointly develop products and solutions with core competitiveness. The two sides will team up to push forward the development of the global data center industry.

In terms of low-carbon architecture, the two sides will jointly develop solar photovoltaic, energy storage, and direct current and flexibility technologies, and provide comprehensive, modular energy solutions with market competitiveness. Its intelligent electric charging products and solutions will drive upgrading of the electric-charging network industry.

Wang Hong, chairman of China Construction Science and Industry Co. Ltd., said that the two sides will leverage advantages in their respective fields to support the construction of benchmark energy saving data centers, low-carbon architectures and electric-charging stations, and push forward high-quality and intelligent development of different sectors.

Huawei established its Data Center Facility Team in October 2021, aiming to integrate digital and power electronic technologies to build green and smart data centers, lead the industry’s development, develop its ecosystem, and become the best partner for its global customers.

Huawei Data Center Facility Team revealed the definition of the next-generation data center facility and unveiled its PowerPOD 3.0, a brand-new power supply system, in May this year.

The PowerPOD 3.0 system can reduce carbon footprint by 40%, cut energy consumption by 70% and lower the SLA fault rate by 38%, according to the company.
