SHENZHEN Bao’an International Airport’s import and export cargo reached 382,000 tons in the first half of this year (H1), up by 22.4% year on year, data from Shenzhen Customs showed.

The airport also recorded a total of 10,900 cargo flights departing and arriving in the city in H1, up by 39%.

“Customs services are now convenient for exporters. Clearance, which usually took 24 hours before, can now be completed within three hours. This arrangement saves costs for logistics companies,” said Tang Lingli, general manager of MBE International, a company that was preparing 3.8 tons of circuit boards for export Wednesday.

At the company’s warehouse, it had completed customer clearance procedures, and after it received customs approval, the products would be directly shipped from the warehouse to the yard for international cargo at the Shenzhen airport. The products would then be unloaded and sorted for export. The airport has opened a total of 11 international cargo routes in H1.

In April, SF Airlines, in partnership with Atlas Air, launched chartered flights between Shenzhen and New York for express mails and parcels. The route connects Shenzhen with five North American cities. The number of flights from Shenzhen to North America has increased to 40 a week, helping enterprises in Shenzhen and Pearl River Delta cities expand to global markets and ensuring the supply chain’s stability, according to a release from the Shenzhen airport.
