Shenzhen-Based new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer BYD announced its foray into Thailand’s passenger automotive landscape at a brand conference in Bangkok on Monday.

It was revealed that Thai new energy car dealer, RÊVER Automotive, will distribute and provide after-sales services for BYD passenger vehicles in the country.

“BYD has launched the first batch of pure electric taxis in Thailand as early as 2018 and has maintained close cooperation with the Thailand Government and local partners to promote the growth of the electric vehicle market,” Liu Xueliang, general manager of BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division, said in the event.

BYD will team up with RÊVER to introduce the most suitable products to meet Thai consumers’ demand and promote a low-carbon lifestyle, he added.

In addition, BYD plans to participate in the Thailand International Motor Expo 2022, debuting more models in the local area. The automaker’s advance in the Thai market is part of its expanding sales network across the world. The recent months saw BYD’s rapidly increasing presence in the global new energy passenger vehicles market.

On July 21, BYD revealed plans to enter Japan, and 10 days later, it announced entry into Germany and Sweden.

Since last summer, BYD has expanded its footprint in 15 countries and regions to open passenger automotive business, according to the data from WeChat official account evobserver.
