JD launches digital traditional Chinese medical solution

China’s e-commerce giant JD.com launched its digital and intelligent medical solution targeting traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) at a JD Health conference held in Beijing on Saturday. 

JD Health, a pharmaceutical retail platform of JD.com, is a leading supplier of medical products, services, and solutions in China. At the conference, Li Ximu, the director of JD Health TCM Hospital, gave a speech on the development of “Internet+TCM” in China.

JD Health’s Internet hospital is dedicated to discovering more famous doctors and outstanding medicines, as well as promoting innovations to speed up the high-quality development of Chinese medicine hospitals in China.

To discover famous doctors, JD Health will cooperate with offline hospitals to establish Chinese medicine studios as platforms for collaborative development of Chinese and Western medicine. JD.com will also help the hospitals to build key clinical specialties at the national, provincial, and municipal levels.

To develop famous medicines, the Internet hospital will promote the construction of TCM standardization via supply chain supervision, drugstores of high standard, and drug effects evaluation.

To promote innovation, JD Health’s hospital will help expedite the commercialization of medical achievements and develop cultural and creative products within the Chinese medicine industry.

At the conference, JD Health also launched an “Internet + TCM” project, which aims to solve problems such as the unbalanced distribution of medical resources in China.

The project will survey 100 medical institutions across the country and interview experts about the status, supervision, and development of the Chinese medicine industry. Thus far, more than 50 medical institutions have participated in the project.

In the future, JD Health’s Chinese medicine hospital is expected to make full use of its digital and intelligent medical solution and advantages in online healthcare consultations to assist with the upgrading of offline TCM hospitals.
