The Xinzhou Mangrove Greenway, which was built along the Xinzhou River with some sections elevated above the river banks, has become a new leisure spot for locals. The greenway also connects five bridges across the river, so passersby can avoid the annoying traffic on Xinzhou Road, while enjoying jogging or walking on the greenway and bridges and conveniently reaching nearby buildings.

The section that is now open to the public runs from the Futian Mangrove Ecological Park in south Futian to the downtown Wuzhou Guesthouse; by the end of this year, the greenway will stretch northward further to Beihuan Boulevard. With lush horticulture, the greenway and the river banks seem like a vibrant park, planted with charming flowers like purple lantana and bougainvillea, as well as fountain grasses forming a dense clump of gracefully arching linear leaves.

Recently eight light installations in the shapes of rare animals and plants are on display on an elevated section of the greenway near Yitian Village. The installations are intended to promote awareness of the biodiversity in Futian, as all of them are based on rare species inhabiting protected areas in the district.
