Shenzhen will prioritize support for local enterprises in participating in 113 large-scale overseas exhibitions in 2023, which include Electronica in Munich, Germany, Logis-Tech Tokyo in Japan and The Big 5 in Dubai, according to the Shenzhen Municipal Commerce Bureau.

In 2022, the bureau included 68 overseas exhibitions in its plan to support local enterprises to expand their overseas markets through exhibitions.

Since the beginning of this year, Shenzhen has taken a spate of measures to support enterprises to tap into the overseas markets. The city organized several chartered flights to help enterprises make their presence at these international exhibitions, and made every effort to help manufacturing and foreign trade companies achieve more substantial results.

Supported by preferential policies, a delegation of 29 people from 18 Shenzhen enterprises left for Indonesia on Nov. 9 to participate in the OCTF 2022 (Jakarta) Intelligent Technology Exhibition.

On Nov. 11, 30 Shenzhen enterprises set out from Shekou Cruise Homeport to the MEDICA 2022 in Dusseldorf, Germany, while 15 enterprises took a chartered flight Nov. 14 to participate in Cosmoprof Asia in Singapore.

The city government will subsidize 30% of local enterprises’ charter fees incurred by participating in business charter flights organized by Guangdong Province in addition to a provincial subsidy, according to a guideline issued by the municipal commerce bureau Oct. 31.

It will subsidize 80% of the round-trip air ticket expenses incurred by participating in business charter flights organized by the city.

According to the data provided by the bureau, Shenzhen enterprises had participated in over 20 key international exhibitions (including remote participation) as of the end of October, with positive results.

A total of 132 Shenzhen enterprises took part in the Global Sources October 2022 Hong Kong Trade Show on Oct. 11, inking deals worth US$17 million. Orders of intent under negotiation were valued at US$1 billion.

On Sept. 27, the municipal commerce bureau led 10 enterprises, including Huawei and ZTE, to Macao to participate in the 13th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum, in a bid to help enterprises expand the market in Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries and sign framework agreements.

Shenzhen also built an online livestreaming platform for the “Going Global” lectures and held 12 live livestreaming activities focusing on topics such as RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership), cross-border e-commerce, compliant operation and preferential policies for enterprises.

Official data showed that the city’s total imports and exports reached 2.97 trillion yuan (US$423.2 billion) from January to October, up 6.1% year on year. Exports amounted to 1.77 trillion yuan, up 17%.
