Event organizer Reed Exhibitions Ltd. (RX) yesterday launched its wholly-owned company RX (Shenzhen) Exhibitions Co. in Shenzhen.

The move represents the company’s ambition to seize the immense opportunities brought by Shenzhen’s development and to deeply cultivate its influence in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) market, according to RX.

South China has always been an important market for RX. Back in 2007, RX founded a joint venture in Shenzhen — RX Huabo — which has continuously expanded its brand influence with the Shenzhen Gift Show as its core event.

Reed Sinopharm, another joint venture launched by RX, has been organizing the China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF), an important event in the medical and health care industry, in Shenzhen over years.

RX also organizes a series of exhibitions specific to electronics, touch screen and display, smart manufacturing in Shenzhen every year.

Shenzhen’s commerce bureau said that the new RX subsidiary is a vote of confidence by the company in the superior exhibition environment and promising prospects of Shenzhen’s convention and exhibition industry.

The commerce bureau expects RX to introduce more international brand exhibitions and conferences to Shenzhen in the future.

Shenzhen has become one of the most famous city for conventions and exhibitions in China after decades of rapid development. The city is accelerating its pace to become a top international exhibition city.

Statistics show that Shenzhen boasted an area of 5.03 million square meters for exhibition in 2021, an increase of 27.34% compared with 2019.

With more than 40 years of fast growth in China, RX has a fleet of wholly-owned companies and joint ventures hosting more than 70 trade fairs in China every year, according to the company.

The company serves in 12 specialized fields in China, with focus on seven key industries ranging from automobiles, electronics, smart manufacturing, gifts and retail, medical and health care, printing and packaging to catering and entertainment.

RX is part of RELX, a British multinational information and analytics company headquartered in London.
