Experts and scholars from the domestic publishing industry attended a digital publishing high-end forum in Shenzhen on Thursday, engaging in heated discussions about promoting in-depth integration of traditional and emerging publishing industries.

Zhang Jianchun, vice head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech.

Zhang pointed out that all publishing organizations and digital publishing enterprises have taken the initiative to pursue digitalization, accelerate the industrial application of digital technologies and expedite the cross-border integration of digital publishing and various fields.

With these efforts, a batch of new products and services that can be seen, heard, experienced and interacted with have been developed and several projects and platforms gathering quality content and leveraging leading technologies have been launched, which help create digital publishing’s new ecosystem, according to Zhang.

Zhang urged endeavors in cultivating talents, creating fine works and enhancing the core competitiveness of the digital publishing industry with high-quality products.

The forum also encouraged opening up a new future for digital publishing through innovation, give better play to the role of copyright in ensuring and promoting digital publishing’s innovative development, and strengthen operations worldwide to help China’s digital publishing go global.

Wei Yushan, head of the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication, Ao Ran, executive vice president and secretary-general of the China Audio-video and Digital Publishing Association, and Zhang Jichen, a member of the Standing Committee of China Publishing Group Corp., also shared their insights at the forum.

The forum was a supporting activity of the 18th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair’s media convergence press and publication exhibition area.

It was guided by the publishing bureau and the copyright administration of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and hosted by the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication and China Publishing Group Corp.
