Pipechina-operated Shenzhen LNG bunker vessel embarked and got loaded with liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Shenzhen LNG Terminal in Dapeng New Area for the first time on Friday, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.

The vessel also successfully filled LNG fuel into another bunker vessel named XIN AO PU TUO HAO with an LNG capacity of 8,500 cubic meters at the terminal.

These moves marked that the city has set up an LNG receiving terminal that enables a bunker vessel to be reloaded with LNG fuel and then fill the loaded LNG fuel into another bunker vessel at the shore, which is the first of this kind in South China.

In November 2022, Shenzhen started to renovate its LNG terminal in order to satisfy the demand for the embarking of LNG bunker vessels and the other smaller-sized vessels. Earlier this month, the renovation project was finished and approved for further operation.
