Shenzhen's first State-owned LNG carrier, “Dapeng Princess,” was named and delivered Saturday. This is the first LNG carrier of a State-owned gas enterprise in Shenzhen and the world’s largest shallow-water channel fourth-generation LNG carrier, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

The carrier’s use is expected to effectively alleviate the natural gas reserve problem and ensure the safe and stable supply of natural gas in Shenzhen, assist Shenzhen in building a resilient city, and better serve the green, low-carbon and high-quality development of Shenzhen and even the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

The vessel is the first cooperation project between Shenzhen Gas and China Shipping Group, and also the first time that a gas enterprise in the GBA has independently ordered an LNG ship.

The vessel, measuring 239 meters long, 36 meters wide and with a cabin capacity of about 80,000 cubic meters, is an LNG ship using an efficient dual-fuel direct propulsion system.

Its unique design draught is less than 8.5 meters, and it has excellent navigability, according to the Daily report.

In the future, it can reach the coastal areas of Southeast Asia and also enter China’s inland waterways such as the Pearl River, Huangpu River and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
