The Shenzhen high-tech industry on-campus spring job fair was held Saturday afternoon at Shenzhen University (SZU)’s Yuehai campus, attracting over 3,000 fresh graduates on the scene.

Some 310 high-tech companies such as Huawei, Tencent, ZTE, BYD and SF Express offered more than 10,000 job vacancies.

Thousands of people attended the job fair online. According to preliminary statistics, 8,360 resumés in total were received, with a preliminary intention rate of nearly 30% and average monthly salary exceeding 15,000 yuan (US$2,184).

A fresh SZU graduate surnamed Zhong said that he is doing an internship program at a local communications company and is interested in job positions at internet giant companies so he attended the fair to submit his resumé.

Some students who have already received job offers were also seen attending the fair on site. A student surnamed Yang, who majors in applied psychology in SZU, appreciated the organization of the job fair to offer them a chance to communicate directly with employers.

Other students who will gain a degree in liberal arts hoped for more liberal arts-related job opportunities at future job fairs.

A long queue was seen at the BYD stall, and staffers from BYD said nearly 70% of graduates who have submitted their resumés during this job fair reached an employment intention with the company. They added that BYD has made offers to more than 700 fresh SZU graduates since the last autumn job fair.

Many recruiters said they value the positive attitude and hardworking spirit and hoped to join hands with passionate and responsible young people.
