Coffee festival

In this “city of coffee,” let’s celebrate Shenzhen’s bustling and vibrant coffee scene at the Third Shenzhen Futian Coffee Life Consumption Festival. Over 180 coffee brands will gather at the festival’s main venue outside One Avenue shopping mall where you can also learn making drip coffee from professional baristas.

Puff Up Bread

The slightly sweet, yeasty aroma of bread would soon flood out and fill the square in UpperHills. More than 50 bakeries, including LOOP bakery, Kundalini Bakery & Café, LTFF Bakery, Bay Star Bread, 1-7 Bread and Bread Talk, will gather for the Puff Up Bread event.

Soccer club pop-up store

A Manchester United-themed pop-up store will be set up by the Beijing-based Manchester United Theater of Dreams, an authorized experience and entertainment center for soccer fans. The pop-up store will offer multiple activities and attractions, including a display of the club’s 145-year-old history, posters of stars and signed jerseys, interactive soccer games and official merchandise, evoking fans’ memories in Old Trafford.

One Mall Kite Festival

If you missed the Weifang International Kite Festival in Shandong Province, don’t miss the One Mall Kite Festival in Yantian on April 29-30, where you can see a sea of kites in a multitude of sizes — with designs featuring sea creatures, tigers, bears and characters. From April 29 through May 3, colorful pinwheels and oil paper umbrellas will adorn Yantian Central Park, where you can also have a bite of various snacks.

Guangming Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival

At Guangming Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival, visitors can appreciate tea demonstrations, shadow play puppet-making, pyrography and painting inside snuff bottles, as well as tasting Guangming’s signature Loucun rice noodles, roasted squabs, Gongming sausages, milk tea and desserts.

Embroidery, bronzeware

Suzhou embroidery works are displayed at Shenzhen Museum. Cao Zhen

Visitors can admire amazing Suzhou embroidery works at an exhibition running through early June. Suzhou embroidery has a history spanning over 2,000 years. Another exhibition running through Aug. 27 showcases ancient Chinese bronze pieces.

Paintings, calligraphy

Paintings and calligraphic works by Chinese artists Zhou Sicong and Lu Chen are on display until June 25, reflecting their lifelong passion for art. The pieces were created from 1963 to 2003. Entry is free.

Paintings on Frisbee discs

If you travel to Dapeng this holiday, don’t forget to check out a small exhibition featuring paintings on Frisbee discs by over 50 artists from around the world, bringing a mixture of the trendy sport and artistic creativity. The exhibition runs until May 15.

Jin relics

Over 160 relics on loan from Shanxi Museum are on display at an exhibition on the Jin State (1033-376 B.C.). As a powerful state in the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 B.C.), the Jin State used to cover areas in modern Shanxi Province and parts of Shaanxi, Hebei, Henan, Shandong and Inner Mongolia. The free exhibition ends July 23.

‘The Joy of Color’

“The Joy of Color,” a collaboration between the Shenzhen Jewelry Museum and The Futurist, a creative intelligence agency based in Italy, showcases the works of 24 designers from eight countries. The exhibition runs until May 10.

Paintings
