The Pingshan District People’s Government and Nanjing University signed a collaborative agreement for industry-university-research (IUR) integration Feb. 18. This partnership seeks to enhance technological innovation within local enterprises.

For many people, Pingshan District is synonymous with BYD, a world leading new energy vehicle maker. But today’s Pingshan has more to offer, especially for cultural enthusiasts, making it a perfect weekend getaway from the urban hustle and bustle.

A cool drizzle did not deter residents of Pingshan from joining a parade and an intangible cultural heritage market on Feb. 12 to celebrate the Lantern Festival.

Shijing Subdistrict in Pingshan District will enhance its street cleaning operations by deploying additional artificial intelligence (AI) equipment by the end of 2025. This initiative is part of a comprehensive plan to address full coverage across all areas, times, and scenarios. Shijing is also the first subdistrict in Shenzhen to fully implement AI-driven street cleaning.

Pingshan's 2024 GDP experienced a year-on-year increase of 9%, the third consecutive year its growth outpaced that of other districts in Shenzhen, including Dapeng New Area.

Pingshan District announced eight industrial policies and measures alongside 30 key projects covering industries, livelihood, and urban construction during its 2025 high-quality economic development conference on Feb. 7.

Pingshan District received 147,600 tourist visits during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday (Jan. 28 to Feb. 4), showcasing the district’s thriving shopping scene, culture, and tourism.

More than 20 Chinese residents and expats gathered at a traditional Chinese painting event in Pingshan Subdistrict, Pingshan District, on Jan. 16 to usher in the upcoming Chinese New Year, which falls on Jan. 29.
