Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (PKU Shenzhen) welcomed 85 new international students yesterday. The International Students Registration Day was held in the lobby of Building H, PKU Shenzhen, located in University Town, Xili, Nanshan District. The 85 new international students include 36 full-time students and 49 exchange students. More students will arrive soon due to delayed flights.

Seventy-six international students are enrolled at Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS), including 29 full-time master’s students, 44 exchange students and three full-time MBA students, majoring in the Master of Finance and Master of Management programs. Seven international students, four full-time students and five exchange students, are enrolled in the Master of Law program of Peking University School of Transnational Law. The School of Environment and Energy also welcomed their first exchange student from Poland.

PHBS is one of the most promising business schools in China. This is the first year for PHBS to have the entire MBA program taught in English.

Lynn Lynn Aung is a Chinese descendant born in Myanmar. Her parents are from Yunnan Province and at home the family speaks in a local dialect from Yunnan. “We have strong ties to China,” Lynn laughed. She is the first child in the family to do a master’s degree in China on a full scholarship. Lynn hopes to work in management in Shenzhen after graduating. May Mee Thwe, another MBA student on full scholarship from Myanmar, is also of Chinese origin. After completing her two-year program, May plans to return to Myanmar to make her own contribution to the country.

Vicky He is a full-time master’s student enrolled at PHBS. She was born in Liaoning Province and immigrated to the United States at the age of 15. She came to do her master’s degree in Shenzhen mostly because her husband came to Shenzhen to initiate a Peacock project. Since her husband is applying for a Shenzhen hukou, she is also planning on finding a job in Shenzhen after graduation.

After the Registration Day, PKU Shenzhen will soon start orientation week and will hold the first Opening Camp for the new postgraduate students on August 25-26.
