The “Week of the Italian Language in the World”, now in its 16th edition, will run from 17 to 23 Oct. 2016. This event, which takes place in the third week of October each year, is central to the promotion of the Italian language and culture abroad.

The event is initiated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Accademia della Crusca. During the third week of October of each year, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, through its diplomatic network and cultural centers, works together with Switzerland to hold a series of lectures, exhibitions, shows and meetings with writers and personalities that center around one specific theme.

The Italian Language Week, which has always enjoyed the patronage of the President of the Republic, is a highly visible event with a lively cultural resonance. It is eagerly anticipated each year by the many admirers of Italy, its language and its lifestyle, and by communities of Italians abroad and people of Italian origin.

The theme for this year is “The Italian language and creativity: brand and costumes, fashion and design”, which focuses on the creative industry and is dedicated to the promotion of Italian creative culture and its brands, especially to the sectors of fashion, costume and design.

On this occasion, the Consulate General of the Republic of Italy in Guangzhou, in cooperation with the Triennale Di Milano, Guangzhou Library, NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di Milano), Istituto Secoli Guangzhou, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou University and Shenzhen University, will celebrate its 16th edition in Guangdong through an extensive program including exhibitions, lectures, meetings and films over the course of two weeks.

2015 Medaglia d’Oro dell’Architettura Italiana (2015 gold medal for Italian architecture)
