The Xiangxi autonomous prefecture government held an investment promotion seminar yesterday in Futian District. Apart from that, it also held a series of investment and trade activities including a press briefing, investment-attraction promotion, high-level networking and door-to-door investment-attraction activities, in a bid to inject new impetus into its poverty alleviation program and the building of a prosperous society in every respect.

During the promotion week, officials of the Xiangxi prefecture government will attend three major promotion activities in Hong Kong and 12 special events directly organized by relevant departments of the Hunan Provincial Government, according to Xiang Shilian, head of Xiangxi’s commerce bureau at the press briefing. He also explained that Xiangxi will bring 193 major investment-attraction projects worth 96.28 billion yuan (US$14 billion).

The briefing was followed by a promotion seminar during which a total of 33 investment-attraction cooperation agreements covering new type of industrialization, agricultural industrialization, culture and tourism, trade and logistics and financing platforms were signed, and an investment of 43.74 billion yuan was agreed upon.

As a prefecture of political significance, Xiangxi is not only endowed with abundant resources and cultural tourist sites, it is also an important transport corridor and an ideal place for investment, Xiang Qingping, deputy head of the prefecture government, said at the seminar.

She also revealed that the prefecture government just introduced a series of preferential policies for investors regarding land, taxes, subsidies, credit financing and government services. “We welcome with open arms all investors to invest in and start businesses in Xiangxi. We will, in line with the principle of common development and win-win cooperation, create a favorable business atmosphere for investors with first-class services and environment,” Xiang said.

Officials and entrepreneurs, including Peng Yanfeng, deputy director-general of Hunan’s commerce department, Huangpu Mingsheng, vice president of Beidahuang Group, and Song Huadong, project manager of Macalline Group in the Xiangxi region, also attended the seminar to promote the region.
