Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor (R) stands beside a new train designed for the under-construction Guangzhou–Shenzhen–Hong Kong Express Rail Link on Sunday. The train arrived Friday. Hong Kong has ordered nine trains from a manufacturer in Qingdao in Shandong Province for the line and two of them were transported to the SAR in January. The rest will be delivered later this year. Upon completion next year, it is estimated that the rail line will shorten the journey between West Kowloon Station in Hong Kong and Futian Station in Shenzhen to 14 minutes, 23 minutes between Hong Kong and Shenzhen North Station, and 48 minutes between Hong Kong and Guangzhou South Station.
