Established on December 1, 2011, FAW-Volkswagen vehicle manufacturing plays an important role in the development strategy of South China. As early as 2012, the factory has been recognized as the plant with the highest degree of automation in China. There are 884 robots in its welding workshop, which covers a total of 91,000 square meters, and the level of automation is up to 70 per cent.

The company covers an area of 1.663 million square meters, developed in phase one and phase two.

The phase one project has a total investment of 13 billion RMB, covering 1,003,900 square meters. The company refers to concern standard for the factory planning, to build up the technology advanced press shop, body shop, paint shop and assembly four production workshops.

The main products are the NEW Golf and Audi A3 Sportback and Limousine three models. After the first phase project is completed, the production capacity will reach 300,000 vehicles.

Phase two project has a total investment of 15.3 billion RMB, the construction period is 36 months and it will enjoy an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles.

The newest and the latest technology for new energy vehicles of Volkswagen and Audi brand will be produced here. In the future the production capacity will reach 600,000 vehicles.
