Shenzhen is a very modern city, but if you want to experience a touch of history, Dongshan Temple is a perfect choice. The temple was built in 1394 during the Ming Dynasty.

Pengcheng Village

Separated by knolls outside of Shenzhen's most-modernized areas, Dapeng Village occupies a basin on the peninsula’s east coast. It's named after a giant mythical bird, called the "peng" in Chinese, which also lends its name to one of Shenzhen's nicknames: Pengcheng, meaning "peng city."

Hesou Ancient Village

It's very possible that not many people know about Shenzhen's thousand-year-old fishing village, Hesou Ancient Village. Located about 900 meters away from the well-known Xichong Beach, Nan'ao Township, Hesou Ancient Village is one of the only remaining fishing villages in the city.
