President of the Republic of Suriname Chandrikapersad Santokhi visited Shenzhen tech companies Tencent and Huawei yesterday as part of his two-day trip to the city.

Over 100 intellectual property experts and high-tech entrepreneurs gathered at an event focused on dispute resolution in the tech innovation field for private entrepreneurs. The gathering took place yesterday at the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) office, located in the Shenzhen Park of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone, to mark World Intellectual Property Day, which will fall on April 26.

Staffers with the city’s power supply bureau are seen cleaning the glass insulators of a power line. The bureau recently completed a historic pollution prevention project on transmission lines. Over the span of five months, a team of more than 500 personnel cleaned the glass insulators of 312 lines to combat pollution-related flashovers that threaten electrical grid stability.

In the first two months of this year, Shenzhen processed a total of 20.16 billion yuan (US$2.78 billion) in export tax rebates, up 23.5% year on year, according to data released by the city’s tax authority.

The recent departure of a Malaysia World Cargo Airlines Boeing 737-800 all-cargo aircraft from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport to Kuching, Malaysia marked the addition of the second new international cargo route to the airport this year.

China's first independently designed ultra-deep large-displacement well, the Enping 21-4 oilfield A1H well, has commenced operations. The well is located about 200 kilometers southwest of Shenzhen in the South China Sea and has a tested daily production capacity of over 700 tons of crude oil.
