Breakthroughs and highlights

As regards the construction of Qianhai, one of the major breakthroughs and highlights worth mentioning is its application of concentrated cooling.

Covering a total floorage of around 13,000 square meters, the No. 2 central cooling station on the basement 4th floor of Excellence Qianhai Finance Center is the first one to go into service.

The cooling station adopts electric refrigerating and ice-storage refrigerating technology and will be built in two separate phases.

The first phase covers an area of 1.02 million square meters. Chang Hai, an engineer of Qianhai Development and Investment Holdings Company, said the concentrated cooling technology in Qianhai filled the blanks in this field in Shenzhen and set a model for South China and even the country as a whole.

Rome is not built in one day. The construction of Qianhai demands painstaking efforts. The greatest difficulty in building Qianhai is threefold.

“First and foremost, we need to complete such a daunting task in such a short time; second, a high standard for quality is set; third, it’s very difficult to coordinate different construction groups since they have different targets and purposes,” Chang said.

When asked whether the fact that Qianhai is built on marine reclamation land poses a problem, the engineer assured the reporter by saying that China’s engineering technology has developed tremendously and we have gained much experience from the previous examples.
