Andy Germak

Inaugural director for international fundraising at Rutgers

MBA, NYU Stern School of Business

Andy Germak is the director of international development and alumni relations at Rutgers University Foundation, a tax-exempt organization dedicated to advancing the work of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey (USA). Germak interfaces with a large international network of alumni and other partners to enhance Rutgers University’s presence abroad and global support at home.

Prior to this role, he held a few positions at the School of Social Work at Rutgers: professor of professional practice, founding executive director of the Center for Leadership and Management, and executive director of the Institute for Families. In these roles, he helped the School of Social Work bring leadership development programs to China and India, and also host delegations from China seeking to connect with American nonprofits and foundations.

Before joining Rutgers, Germak was president and CEO of the Mental Health Association of Morris County, Inc., and held a variety of other nonprofit/NGO sector positions in the New York City area. He is the author of the book, “Essential Business Skills for Social Work Managers: Tools for Optimizing Programs and Organizations,” published by Routledge in 2014. His 2010 academic article, “Social Entrepreneurship: Changing the Way Social Workers Do Business,” has been widely influential.
