The 2016 Lianhua Hill Grass Music Festival, featuring classical music presented by five orchestras and pianist Lang Lang, will be held Nov. 18-20 at Lianhua Hill.

The five orchestras are the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Shenzhen Youth Symphony Orchestra and Spanish Jaen City Symphony Orchestra.

The activity is organized by the Futian District Government and local theater management, performance and ticketing company A.C. Orange. Free tickets can be claimed at the Futian cultural and sports bureau's WeChat (szftjsf) from Oct. 8 to Nov. 5.

Pianist Lang will be featured on the night of Nov. 18. Lang has been praised by musicians and critics around the world. U.S. National Public Radio's Morning Edition remarked that "Lang Lang has conquered the classical world with dazzling technique and charisma." It is often noted that Lang successfully straddles two worlds --- classical prodigy and superstar.

The Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra was established in 1982, and its artistic director has been German conductor Christian Ehwald since 2008. The orchestra has performed with prominent Chinese composer Tan Dun, pianist Lang Lang, Spanish tenor Jose Carreras, movie music master Erich Kunzel and pianists Li Yundi and Chen Sa.

Last autumn, the Lianhua Hill Grass Music Festival attracted 30,000 audience members. The festival also advocates enviornmental protection and calls for audience members to collect garbage in the park in exchange for books.
