As a symbol of prosperity, Chinese people often use a variety of flowers to adorn their homes as they welcome the new year. At the end of every year, every district in Shenzhen will open a unique New Year flower market where people are offered a vast variety of flowers at relatively cheap prices. This year’s markets are scheduled to open from Jan. 21 to 27.

Futian District

Shenzhen Flower World: Flower World has 450 stores and plenty of flowers, selling flowers, bonsai trees, birds, turtles and fish. The majority of shops offer delivery services.

Nanshan District

Netherlands Flower Town: This flower market has 280 birds and artistic stone stores as well as thousand of flower varities. Consumers will see traditional Dutch houses and flowers from all over the world.

Longgang District

East Shenzhen Flower World: It occupies 56 thousand square meters and is divided into five sections for flowers, birds, fish, bonsai trees, flower pots, stones and gardening resources.

Yantian District

Yantian Flower Street: The length of the flower street is 130 meters with 38 stores. It has unique flowers like the Dutch hyacinth, Guizhou peony and azalea. This is a smaller flower market but consumers can find kumquats and special goods for the Spring Festival.

Bao’an District

Xin’an Haiyu Flower Market: The market contains 50 stores, selling pottery, New Year scrolls, festive oranges and flowers.

Longhua New Area

Longhua Office: The length of the market is 300m with 80 stores. Its major goods are pottery and festive oranges.

Pingshan New District

Pingshan Sports Center: As a large flower and garden center, the makeshift flower market has 50 stores. Phalaenopsis, chrysanthemum, anthurium and yacaa bonsai are available here.

Dapeng New Area

Renming Road Flower Market is a small flower market with 12 stalls. It sells festive oranges and flowers.
