Aupa Quartet from Spain will bring a night of Michael Jackson’s hits and live soundtracks played on string instruments at Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center in April.

The program includes: “Black or White,” “Man in the Mirror,” “Remember the Time,” “They Don’t Really Care About Us,” “Beat It,” “Billie Jean,” “I Want You Back,” “Shape of My Heart,” “Bolita,” “Sexy Ladies,” “Let’s Run to the Woods” and soundtracks from Chinese TV series “Journey to the West” and movie “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.”

Aupa Quartet is a string quartet that composes and reinterprets modern music. With their varying origins, cultures and musical tastes, the members have been inspired by jazz, funk, Son cubano and flamenco to develop their own and increasingly recognizable style. Their live performances are energetic and they encourage audience members to dance during the performances.

Aupa Quartet’s members are Asier Suberbiola (violin), Pere Nolasc Turu (violin), Felipe Escalada (viola) and Martin Melendez (cello). Aupa Quartet is much more than just a string quartet, from their classical instruments comes music full of groove and spontaneity. The music displays a fusion of catchy tunes enhanced with intense improvisations.
