Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen’s innovative, pop-up “pop art” gallery, which is located on the first floor of the hotel, is showcasing works of Oz El Hai, a renowned modern artist.

A self-taught painter, Hai specializes in the use of oil and acrylic over canvas, wood, aluminium and lacquer materials “to create something uniquely mine,” said the Israel-born artist.

Drawing inspiration from Picasso’s fluid cubism style combined with his love of music and structured by his academic background in architecture, Hai creates vivid abstract feminine forms entwined with musical instrument representations surrounded by bold contrasting colors. Alternatively he paints over real musical instruments enhanced by rich colors in his vivid art masterpieces.

In an interview at the hotel, Hai said: “I focus on music, figures and bursts of contrasting bold colors to represent joy and bring it alive to the viewers.” For this artist rather than painting where his emotions take him, “mostly I visualize in advance what I feel I should be creating.”

With 18 years spent perfecting his craft, he has held successful exhibitions in Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, Berlin and in his homeland — Israel. Born in 1976, Hai remains one of the most successful and prolific pop artists of modern times.

Purchasing Hai’s masterpieces is possible at the art gallery at Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen.

The Four Seasons Hotel Shenzhen, located in the heart of the commercial district of Futian, sits across from the Shenzhen Conference and Exhibition Center and is a short walk away from the Civic Center which houses the city’s municipal hall and museum.
