Guests who stayed at five-star Kempinski Shenzhen were treated with a cocktail party featuring a live band and a delightful dancing performance Saturday evening to celebrate the brand’s 120th anniversary.

General manager Eggert Muus mingled with guests and then lit up the anniversary candle corner with hotel staffers. On a multi-layered shelf, white candles formed the number 120, symbolizing the time-honored journey of Kempinski.

Seven girls from the sales team in red cheongsams waved fluffy feather fans and danced elegantly accompanied by “Flower Woman,” a Chinese pop song originally sung by late Hong Kong singer Anita Mui.

Prior to the cocktail party, the hotel also launched the European Food Festival. The chef team presented a sumptuous buffet with a wide selection of European dishes from countries like Italy, Spain, Germany and France apart from a delicate main course of sautéed cod and Wagyu beef.

Guests at the buffet dinner were treated with a surprise, as the hotel’s management team sang Chris de Burgh’s “The Lady in Red,” with tweaked lyrics to express the joyous spirits of the hoteliers. Muus also explained that they chose the song because female hotel staffers welcoming guests at the lobby were actually ladies in beautiful red uniforms.

For those who missed the jovial party, there is still a chance to celebrate Kempinski’s anniversary. The brand is offering guests the chance to win a 10-night trip for two people in three Kempinski hotels, including flights, limousine transfers and suite accommodation. Anyone who books a stay at any Kempinski hotel and signs up for the Kempinski Discovery loyalty program, or is already a member can enter the competition. They have to upload at least one photo of their recent stay at a Kempinski hotel to www.kempinski.com before July 31. Detailed information is listed on the website.
