The Costco craze has officially reached Shenzhen!

A delegation from Columbia University in the City of New York visited Shenzhen from Thursday to Friday.

Those who haven’t checked out Florentijn Hofman’s giant inflatable rubber duck floating in Shenzhen Bay should hurry, as the duck will be exhibited for less than two weeks, through Jan. 20.

The cultural festival on Mazhou Island featured a booth set up by the Shekou Management and Service Center for Expats (SMSCE), which showcased Nanshan’s distinctive culture, handicrafts, and cuisine. Additionally, the booth offered services such as legal and medical consultations to assist foreign personnel, enhancing their understanding and integration into the vibrant community of Nanshan.

The Shenzhen Bao'an Marathon 2023 kicked off at the Coastal Square in Bao'an District on Dec. 31, attracting over 20,000 participants from 19 countries and regions.

Beachgoers heading to the popular Dameisha and Xiaomeisha beaches in Yantian District now have the convenience of using the Shenzhen Metro Line 8 Phase 2, commencing operation Dec. 27. This extension encompasses the Honganwei, Yantianxu, Dameisha and Xiaomeisha stations, complementing the existing Metro Line 8 Phase 1, which opened in 2020, and provides access to various spots in Yantian.

Residents can now take Metro to Yantian District to enjoy a view of the mountains and the sea as Line 8's Phase II started operation this morning.
