During the recent May Day holiday (May 1-5), Pingshan saw a surge in tourists at scenic spots and increased consumers in shopping areas.
Reports indicate that three major shopping destinations in the district — Rainbow Department Store (Pingshan), Rainbow Department Store (Longping), and Yitian Holiday World — collectively welcomed 536,000 visits during the holiday, marking a 2.1% increase compared to the previous year.
The boost in consumer engagement was fueled by a combination of discounts and innovative activities at these shopping centers. Noteworthy events included Yitian Holiday World's immersive digital art exhibition inspired by "Classic of Mountains and Rivers," which proved to be a delightful experience for families and art enthusiastes; Rainbow Department Store (Longping) organized a lively mahjong contest; and the newly opened YZ Mall enticed visitors with a variety of discounts.

One local resident, Ms. Zhang, lauded the diverse offerings available in Pingshan's malls, emphasizing the opportunities to savor local Hakka delicacies, explore trendy markets, enjoy live entertainment, and shop for favorite brands — a convenience welcomed by families.
Furthermore, Pingshan unveiled five travel itineraries and distributed coupons for travel, sports, dining, bookstore visits, hotel stays, and gift shop purchases during the holiday. These initiatives successfully attracted tourists looking to watch stage plays, engage in sports activities, dine at local restaurants, and shop for unique, creative products.

The average daily visitations peaked at 23,700, marking a 9.7% rise compared to the Qingming Festival holiday in early April. Notably, on May 2, the park achieved a record high of 48,800 visits. Tourists expressed that they not only enjoyed Shenzhen’s largest waterfall in the park but also admired its pristine streams, valleys, forests, and observed a variety of wildlife and flora.
Furthermore, over 50 diverse activities took place in libraries, public book rooms, art museums, exhibition halls, and parks in Pingshan during the holiday, providing the public with engaging opportunities to appreciate the rich tapestry of art and culture.
