Xiwan Mangrove Park, an ideal spot to watch the sunset
A new project linking five urban parks in Shenzhen has begun construction, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.
Guiwan Park in Qianhai has always been a popular spot for Shenzheners to escape the concrete jungle and reconnect with nature. Now this belt-shaped park has added three bridges, which stitch together the north and south halves of the park that are otherwise split by a river.
Shenzhen will build eight coastal park clusters, 11 urban park clusters and 10 pet theme parks this year, according to an urban management work meeting held recently.
Shenzhen's land and space ecological protection and restoration plan (2021-2035) compiled by the municipal planning and natural resources bureau was released recently after being approved by the Shenzhen Municipal Government.
In addition to the popular Hongqiao Park (also known as Red Bridge Park), Honghuashan Park, Zuo'an Science and Technology Park and Dadingling Greenway, eight new parks have opened in Guangming District recently. Many are pocket parks inside residential communities.
