Looking back at 2023, Marco Morea from Italy, manager of the Bosch Shenzhen plant, a subsidiary of Bosch Group, said the company went stable, despite shrinking customer demand around the globe, and he was proud that the Shenzhen plant has produced majority of Bosch’s overall output worldwide.

He views Shenzhen as the best choice for him to live and work, as the city always has “new platforms, new opportunities and unlimited possibilities” to offer.

This episode will follow the career development of a young Peruvian man in Shenzhen. After graduating from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, Hubei Province, with a master’s degree in biomedicine engineering, Christian Virrueta, also known for his Chinese name Liu Bohan, took his classmates’ advise to travel south to seek employment. He arrived in Shenzhen at the beginning of 2022 and now works as an engineer at BGI. He loves his profession, and is keen on learning Chinese. He is a big fan of cycling, and has biked around Shenzhen in a year. He says Shenzhen is a special city with a large number of high-tech companies with their own strengths. “Sometimes I feel like living in two, three cities simultaneously in Shenzhen,” Virrueta said of the city’s diversity and inclusiveness.

This episode is about the story between Belgian volunteer Ronny Verdoodt and local war veterans. He came to Shenzhen in 2009 and became a volunteer here, frequently visiting local war veterans. He founded the international volunteer organization “Love in China” in 2015. Verdoodt has helped many people over the past eight years as he has been deeply in love with the city, and the country. He aspires to do something special in Shenzhen for the local people, and aims to gather locals and expats to give back to society with love.

This episode is about American entrepreneur Ray Oswal’s high-tech venture in Shenzhen. Having worked in the Silicon Valley in California, Oswal is entrepreneurship-minded. He first arrived in Shenzhen, dubbed China’s Silicon Valley, on a business trip for his former employer in 2019, and a year later Oswal started his own high-tech company here. His startup explores the application of disruptive technologies such as VR (virtual reality), AR (augmented reality) and MR (mixed reality) in education. Shenzhen is an ever growing city with a comfortable, clean environment to Oswal. “The city is full of energy and momentum to innovations.”
